Many professions require the training and proper instruction of firearm use, such as police officer, store owner, detective, or fire fighter. Instructions on owning a firearm safely in the house must be stressed.

The firearms and ammunition should always be locked up and properly registered with authorities. Children should never be allowed near the firearms, or know how to unlock their containers. The safely lock on pistols and rifles should always be put away with locks in the safety positions. Children should be instructed that firearms are very dangerous in the wrong hands and proper use depends on proper training, storage and upkeep of the firearm.

The adults responsible for the firearm in the home should be properly licensed, if required. They should be the only people who handles or touches the firearm in the home. It must never be taken out or used to threaten or show off during an argument or angry confrontation at all. Doing so can have serious and irreversible consequences.
